“The California Dream”

“The California Dream” City Edition uniform was designed to celebrate the Lakers' arrival in Los Angeles and the early pursuit of what the franchise would become.

Before the banners, championships, and global recognition, there was only potential. This design pays tribute to those early West Coast years — a team built on ambition and belief in what could be.

An all-black uniform reflects the uncertainty of that moment, when the future was still undefined. Purple-to-black-to-purple trim references the California sky after sunset, a quiet space between what has been achieved and what still lies ahead.

Finished with the vintage Lakers triangle wordmark used in the franchise’s earliest Los Angeles era, the work serves as a reminder that every dynasty begins with a dream.

The project also includes a matching alternate court, the first ever in the organization’s history, extending the visual identity into the arena and creating a cohesive game environment for the uniform.
